Maths and Physics Tuition in Liss

I am a PhD researcher in Physics at the University of Surrey. I graduated with a 1:1 from the University of Surrey in 2020 with an integrated masters degree in Physics. I am also a module demonstrator where I engage with undergraduate students to help them during tutorial sessions.

Tutoring Experience

My teaching experience began whilst I was in school tutoring fellow classmates in maths as well as in the Air Cadets where I taught a variety of subjects. More recently I tutored a student through their Maths A level where she attained the grade needed to get into her university course at Bristol. I have had more formal teaching experience whilst at university by acting as a module demonstrator for topics including essential mathematics, electromagnetism and scientific investigation skills.

Tutoring Approach

All my tutoring session are planned to revolve around the needs of my student. I first like to get an idea of my students current level of understanding. Then we shall formulate our long term goals and a time-frame over which we plan to achieve them.

A normal lesson with me will start with identifying the subject that needs work, reviewing that subject, then applying that knowledge whilst I assess the student's understanding and correct any misconceptions. I try to remain present in these problems so that the student gets the most out of my experience but I also don't hover so closely that the student cannot find their own solutions. My plan is always to build confidence and understanding in my students such that even if they are faced with a challenging problem they may not have experienced before, they have the tools to figure out a solution.

I am able to do both in-person and online lessons. For in-person lessons I can travel short distances (up to five miles as the crow flies) to meet for lessons. I can travel further than that within reason but with an increased fee proportionate to the journey length.
