I am currently completing my Masters degree at the London School of Economics, studying Environment and Development. Prior to this program, I spent three years working in the international development and sustainability space in Washington, D.C. I received my Bachelors degree from U.C. Berkeley and grew up in San Francisco, California.
During high school (age 14-18) I served as a teacher's aid in underfunded classrooms in my area and also tutored a 8 year old boy with learning differences in English. During University, I mentored students at a local elementary school, including helping them with their homework, joining the classroom as a teacher's aid, and spending time with them at recess.
My tutoring approach is centered on empowering students to take ownership of their learning. I prioritize creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable thinking through problems on their own, rather than simply being given answers. I meet each student where they are, both academically and emotionally, and tailor my strategies to their individual needs and learning styles. Together, we set clear goals and measurable benchmarks, which allows us to track progress meaningfully and celebrate growth over time. This approach not only builds subject mastery but also fosters confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
