I am a fully qualified Chemistry teacher currently in full time employment within a school in East Dunbartonshire. I graduated from the University of Glasgow with a bachelors degree in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry, I then attended Strathclyde University for my PGDE Chemistry with Science teaching which I completed in May 2013. I am 33 years old and live in Bishopbriggs.

Tutoring Experience

I am in my twelfth year of teaching and have experience of teaching Intermediate 2 chemistry, National 4, National 5, the new CfE Higher Chemistry and advanced higher chemistry. I have 13 years of experience of tutoring pupils for Standard Grade, National 5, old Higher and the new CfE Higher Chemistry.

I am also an approved SQA marker and can offer hints and tips on how to best answer exam style questions.

Tutoring Approach

First approach would be to find out what the student knows and understands, and if there is any problems or areas of difficult, these would be concentrated on first. I also try to relate concepts to experiences the student has had to try to make them see things in a different light. I am a relaxed and friendly person and have used various ways of studying myself which I can hopefully pass on to other students, so they too can be successful. I use past paper questions to ensure pupils are fully prepared for their exam. I am also able to supply and mark additional questions and materials.
