My name is Lauren and I studied at the University of Wolverhampton. I love everything sport and have been extremely sporty since I was very young. My sports are Football and Martial Arts. When I am not participating in Sport, I enjoy learning new skills. I am currently learning Spanish and Sign language. I also enjoy listening to music, going for walks in nature and reading.
I am passionate about helping improving and support students with their educational journey and providing extra guidance.
I have been teaching since 2017 and have worked in 3 different schools. I have been at my current school for 6 years.
My primary subject is PE and I have taught GCSE PE for AQA as well as BTEC PE level 2 and tech award. I have experience teaching A-Level PE, in particular the Socio-Cultural element of the course. In my early years of teaching, I have taught Maths at foundation level for year 7, 8, 9 and 10. My experience is in mainstream school teaching mixed gendered classes, teaching individuals with a range of abilities including students with special educational needs. Because of this, I am able to adapt my approach depending on the needs of the individual.
My approach to teaching varies based on the needs and learning style of the individual (this can be discussed with the individual). Regular recall techniques used to help student recall learnt knowledge and application to different topics.
Small passages of writing and use of diagrams, videos and tables is how I like to structure my lessons. I like to use lots of examples to support student learning.
Exam questions are a key part of my teaching to ensure learning has been consolidated as well as preparing students for different styles of exam questions. To prepare for this, I will use a structured breakdown with visual representation on assessment objectives to help students identify where marks can be given. I am committed to creating a safe and calm environment which allows the student to feel at ease and ask questions (no question is a silly question). Mistakes are used as a learning opportunity to build knowledge and make progress.
