Hi! I am currently a first year undergraduate studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bath. I am a sociable and friendly person, with the ability to communicate well with others. I achieved 4 A*s at A Level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and History.

I am passionate about maths and problem solving and want to help others feel the same. I find that the reason many people don't enjoy maths is that the lessons are not engaging or helpful to what the students actually need. Therefore each lesson will be made to meet the individual learning styles of the student.

Tutoring Experience

I have assisted many peers in their learning, gaining an awareness of the different methods of explaining a topic to make it more understandable. Additionally, I have had several roles working with young people, for example as an assistive helper and at holiday / after school clubs. I am very excited about the opportunity to make maths more accessible and will work with the student to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible!

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring lessons will be delivered online through Microsoft Teams and will last 60-90 minutes. My lessons are structured in chunks, these will be as follows:
- Introduction and Recap of Previous Week's Content
- PowerPoint explaining the current topic
- Real-time worked example, where I explain my methods and tips to successfully tackle the question. Students will be able to see my write out the solution as I explain my steps.
- Students will be given questions to answer to check their understanding, with the space to ask me any questions.
- Then, the student and I will go through the solutions with a mark scheme where applicable.
- The lessons will conclude with any final questions and with me asking the student what they would like to focus on next.

I am a big believer that mistakes are the foundation of learning and I will encourage the student to push themselves out of their comfort zones, whilst supporting them so they feel confident in their own ability.
