I am a hard-working and enthusiastic lecturer with a passion for both Literature and Language. I have taught in Further Education for 19 years and I am currently a senior English lecturer at Reaseheath college, where I teach GCSE English language.
I am also an Assistant Principal Examiner for GCSE English language.
I am able to offer tutoring from my own home in Nantwich on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon/evenings, and Saturday mornings.

Tutoring Experience

I have nineteen years teaching experience in FE and have taught on range of courses including GCSE English, AS and A2 level English Literature and Language, Access to Higher Education and Key Skills Communications. I was closely involved in teaching and moderating both coursework and examination for English Language and Literature A level and a GCSE and have a detailed understanding of the assessment system. I am currently an Assistant Principal Examiner, marking the GCSE English Language examination for AQA and have been successful in this role for the past eight years.

I also have a range of experience teaching students who require additional support.

My degree is in English Literary Studies (BA) and this course included some specific English Language components. I also have an MA in Contemporary Literary Studies and a PGCE in Further and Higher Education. I am currently undertaking a QTLS qualification, meaning I will be qualified to teach in primary and secondary schools.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is always positive and I like to focus on your strengths and build on them. The scheme of work that we follow will be adapted to suit your individual learning needs. I believe that learning is very much an active process and therefore I will encourage you to explore and discover rather than listen to a 'lecture'.
I believe that if you are well-informed about what the examiner/moderator is expecting and you have an enthusiasm for the subject, then together we can develop effective ways to tackle both coursework and examination.
