I am a dedicated, hard working and enthusiastic teacher. I love working with young people and my interests strongly lie within the social sciences. I am a calm, patient and approachable individual that likes to build excellent rapport with all my students.

Tutoring Experience

After finishing university, I decided to teach English abroad for 2 years. I worked in Vietnam and South Korea and did a variety of teaching within schools and tutoring on a one-to-one basis. Following my travels, I trained to be a teacher in London and gained my PGCE qualification in 2009. Since then, I have been a Social Sciences teacher and I am currently in my 15th year of teaching. My specialist subject is Sociology, and I am very experienced in delivering the AQA syllabus for the GCSE and the A Level. I have been a Head of Department for Sociology, and also a Head of Faculty for Social Sciences. In addition to this, I have also been an examiner for AQA, and have marked all three of the A Level papers, and paper 1 for the GCSE. At A Level, I teach the Sociology of Education, Crime and Deviance, Families and Households, Theory and Methods and Beliefs in Society.

Tutoring Approach

I love working with students aged between 14 and 18 and feel that is is very important to build up excellent rapport with the people I teach. I believe that each tutee should be taught in the appropriate way to suit their learning needs. I use a variety of different teaching techniques in order to keep my lessons exciting. I am very flexible in my approach to teaching and will ensure that I plan my sessions in accordance to my tutees requests.
