Tutoring Experience

I have been a private tutor on and off for over 10 years.

I have experience tutoring young people and adults who need SEN support and with learners who had dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, school phobia/trauma, home-educated children and in a alternative unit with young people who have been repeatedly excluded from school. I did this as an individual and for agencies.

I have experience running creative workshops with adults with learning disabilities and PMLD also working with children with SEN/ASD as well as adults and children without specific disabilities in drama, music, event management and improvisation for performance.

I also have experiences working on projects with adults with learning difficulties, PMLD, and teenagers Not in work or education and those with emotional and behavioural disorders.

I home-educated both my own teenage children who both have autism. I have the diploma in home education from The Centre Of Excellence.

Tutoring Approach

I have a person centred approach to teaching. I use games, art, online programmes, music and lots of humour to teach. For those who find traditional learning stressful I can also work with stress management and relaxation. I offer a free initial consultation you can meet me and experience my teaching without obligation. Online lessons are booked one term in advance.

My first lesson is free of charge so that we both get a chance to see if we are a suitable match for each other. I reserve the right not to take on any student that I don't feel I can genuinely help as a result of my initial assessment. I ask that parents and students do NOT review me based on the initial assessment and that they only review after the second or third week of teaching please.
