I'm a current High School English Teacher with a promoted post in English and Modern Languages. I have taught for almost 20 years, with two years in the USA teaching Language Arts. I spend my weeks taking my children to activities and spend the weekends at Highland Dance competitions. I currently teach from home and don't travel.
I graduated in December 2022 with my Masters in Leadership and Learning with merit from the University of Edinburgh, achieving this as I worked.
Tutoring Experience
I have taught every level from S1 upwards in school. I am experienced in teaching National 4, 5 , Higher and Advanced Higher English. I am a current SQA marker, involved in National 5 Paper 1 and Higher English folio. I have marked for the majority of my career.
I have helped students with SATS for American Universities and law school entrance exams recently, as well as Scottish exams.
Tutoring Approach
Friendly, supportive and tailored to the needs of students. I have high expectations for young people and expect hard work to match clear reading/writing strategies taught. Success is possible with determination, grit and the ability to listen. I have seen students achieve more than they ever thought they could, with prelim grades of 34% to final exam grades of 85%. Nothing is impossible with hard work.
