I am currently a part-time year 1 teacher at a primary school in Thurrock. I tutor in Rayleigh and the surrounding areas, travelling to you, as I have two young children at home. I also offer tuition online via Skype.
Prior to having twins, I was an Assistant Head Teacher at my current school, leading English and teaching year 6. I have also taught Year 5 at an Ofsted Outstanding school in Greater London (ranked as one of the top 10 schools in London and number 1 in Havering for pupil progress and attainment).
In July 2014, I graduated from Liverpool Hope University with First Class Honours - BA QTS Primary Teaching with English Language specialism. My teaching experience and academic studies have given me the vital skills needed to make a positive impact on children's lives. I am passionate about teaching, passing on my enthusiasm to the children that I teach, and recognise that every child is different and has individual learning needs. My job is to cater to those and build trusting relationships with my pupils to ensure that they are motivated to learn and reach their full potential.
I have over ten years teaching experience and have taught across the key stages. I have vast experience teaching/tutoring children to prepare them for the end of KS2 SATs.
My teaching has been graded 'Outstanding', both as a whole, and across all eight individual Teachers' Standards by the Institute of Education at the leading teaching university in the North West.
Having tutored children between the ages of 5 and 13 for a number of years, I have vast experience working with different types of learners and ensure that I tailor my teaching style to each individual's needs. Initially, I assess each child to identify which areas of the curriculum that they are more confident with and those topics in which they require a greater level of support. As most children will have spent the day at school prior to their tutoring session, it is important that tasks are engaging, as well as challenging. For this reason, I ensure that all sessions include varied activities so that the child remains on task and motivated to push themselves forward in their learning. Parents are also asked to keep me up-to-date with the curriculum content which is being covered in school, enabling me to gear my sessions towards this, and thus make a significant impact on their progress in school.
