My daughter, who’s currently in Year 10, had just one session with Lucille but that was enough for us to let Lucille know that we would not be using her again as her style is not challenging or engaging enough for my daughter. Perhaps it's not the type of tutoring we're use to but to spend 20mins of our paid time having my daughter watch a YouTube video and then spend the rest of the time reading off slides, with answers on the page, this just isn't the level of expert tutoring we are looking. It’s a shame as she does seem to have many good reviews but for us the approach is not challenging or engaging enough, therefore no benefit in carrying on with Lucille. I did reach out to Lucille after the lesson to give her an opportunity to respond before posting this feedback but sadly she didn’t reply back to my email.

I’m surprised and disappointed that you’d take this opportunity to write a review like this. While I appreciate you don’t want to continue tuition; in our lesson your daughter expressed she would like to gain a better understanding of the energy topic so I talked her through examples to be sure she had a secure understanding. As the energy unit involves a lot of calculations we did go through examples, which did contain worked solutions so answers were included.

The GCSE exams contain a large proportion of practical-based application questions which students often find tricky and as I cannot demonstrate core practicals from home I showed her a good quality recording as a visual reminder of the Hooke’s Law practical related to elastic potential energy, something which your daughter expressed in the lesson she wanted to watch to review.

I wish her all the best with her future studies and hope you find someone who can meet your needs.

My daughter tried one hour for Combined Science. Unfortunately there was some disruption during class, this is not something you expect when you pay £40 per hour.
She is very knowledgeable in her subjects so recommend her for anyone that needs her services.
My daughter will not continue with her at the moment.

She is an excellent communicator, my son enjoyed her style of teaching and I would recommend her for combined science tuition (from our personal experience). Lucille has been tutoring our son Rory in preparation for his Science GCSE next year, with a particular focus on Chemistry. She has impressed Rory with how well prepared she is in advance of the lessons. An excellent teacher, my son is going into Year 11 he has had a few lessons now covering all three sciences. Jacob has found Lucille's teaching excellent, he is focused and engaged throughout the lesson, he has learnt so much already. Jacob is given the time he needs to process and respond and Lucille is constantly giving exam focused feedback which is invaluable. Lucille is really inspiring and Jacob's confidence has already improved, he always looks forward to the next lesson.

Both my younger sisters are currently individually taking lessons with Lucille for Combined Sciences (GCSE level) and have been doing so every week for the past c. 4 months. My sisters have both benefited from their sessions and have learned new things that had been missed in their school education, bringing further clarity to their general learning and success in class. They find Lucille to be nice and patient, taking time to explain things and in a way that is easily understood for their individual levels. She is supportive and encouraging when they achieve results which they find motivating.

Lucille is well organised and maintains frequent communication, which is reassuring. With remote learning due to Covid-19, there were some adjustments required in the working environment, however, Lucille responds well to feedback and this was seen to quickly improve, continuing to enhance the girls' experiences and quality of the lessons. They are both really happy with how things are going and look forward to continuing on; the girls wanted to give Lucille a 4.5 rating but we were limited by the options on the website. My son has been having science tuition with Lucille for half a term now. Due to covid, the lessons have been online, which has worked really well. My son has really grown in confidence and his level of understanding has really improved since starting tuition. Lucille always prepares lessons in advance, often as PowerPoints and provides clear explanations, she will often ask questions to test knowledge and retention from previous weeks as well as setting some homework to consolidate learning. She has made the time to get to know me and my son and what we want to get out of the tuition. Furthermore, in a short space of time, she is able to read my son well and can see where he needs extra support and where he doesn’t. I find her to be very professional and would highly recommend her.
