I am a third year undergraduate student in physics, specializing in the theoretical and mathematical elements of my course.

I believe that teaching should - where possible - be based on engaged learning as opposed to passive teaching; students respond more readily and with greater enthusiasm to problems and questions than to being told a set of facts to memorize. In many cases it is difficult for teachers of large groups to do this for every pupil, as the classroom demands a "one size fits all" approach to education. 1:1 tutoring negates this limitation, allowing students to learn to solve problems associated with their subject, and by extension allow them to increase performance in exams.
