I have always had a passion for English, as it provides a unique opportunity to explore creativity, develop critical thinking, and appreciate the power of language. Helping students unlock their potential and find their own voice in the subject is something I truly enjoy. With 12 years of experience as an English teacher in three inner-city London secondary schools, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to both KS3 and KS4 English.
Specialising in the GCSE AQA specification, I have a deep understanding of the exam structure and requirements, having worked as an examiner for AQA for two years. This invaluable experience allows me to offer targeted, high-quality tuition that helps students excel in both English Language and Literature. In KS3, I focus on building strong foundational skills in analytical, evaluative, and creative writing to prepare students for KS4.
My teaching is structured and results-driven, ensuring students gain the confidence and skills needed to succeed. I provide clear strategies for tackling exam questions, including reviewing model answers, breaking down assessment objectives, and teaching practical planning techniques. I also focus on helping students maximise marks for each assessment objective. Homework, including extended writing tasks, is set regularly to reinforce learning. If needed, I am happy to collaborate with a student’s current English teacher to tailor my support to their specific needs.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss how I can help support your child’s success.
