An experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated ESL (English as a Second Language) tutor with ten years in the industry, with a commitment to ensure that students acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding of their subject. Aiming to inspire, challenge and motivate all levels and abilities to learn English.

Tutoring Experience

My teaching career spans across ten years, with students across the world including; England, China, North and South America. Six of those years were spent specialising in teaching Second Language English students, from as young as three to thirteen years old in Shanghai, China. During this time I held several senior positions including one as a Head of Department in an International School.
I have specific training in TEFL both for adults and children from accredited English and American institutions. In addition I am in the midst of completing a Masters Degree in International Education.

The majority of my client base includes students studying at International Schools including Wellington College International and the British School of Beijing.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching English to second language learners is to create highly engaging, energetic and captivating lessons. I like to integrate fun learning aids including; props, visuals, flashcards and TRP (Total Physical Response) actions.
I believe that when students are having fun they are most likely to retain new information, which builds their confidence and allows them to develop a great sense of joy and satisfaction from the learning process.

I tailor each class to the specific requirements of the student and aim to build a trusting and strong relationship, providing regular feedback to the individual or parents (if the student is younger). I also welcome suggestions or ideas from students about their learning goals.
