I have spent the past 60 years honing my skill as a speaker and writer of English, driven by an intense curiosity about all aspects of the language. My curiosity is not limited to my own language though. I also speak excellent Italian and spent 10 years in Italy, where I really got to grips with the language.

Tutoring Experience

I began teaching English as a Foreign Language in 1993, when I moved to live in Italy, I remained there until 2003, when I returned to the UK. Since then, I have continued to teach my language and in recent years I have added Italian to the range of subjects I am able to teach. As of August 2020, I am now living back in Italy, so I can only offer tuition online.

Tutoring Approach

I have a communicative approach to language teaching. But that does not mean that I am relaxed about grammatical or orthographic accuracy. While my first priority is to enhance the communication skills of my students, I want them to have a fully rounded knowledge of the language. I am particularly well prepared to assist students in enhancing their writing.
