Hi I am Max a second year student of chemical engineering at UCL. I am originally from Hong Kong where I studied at Harrow school, at Harrow school I did my GCSE where I had five nines the rest eights and one 7. I also completed my A-levels there achieving an A* in biology and an A in chemistry and mathematics.

Tutoring Experience

In Hong Kong I tutored several young children in a school program in mathematics. Alongside this I tutored a few GCSE level children in Mathematics, biology, Chemistry and Physics. These students were tutored over a period of 3 years
well at university in the UK I have tutored two a level students in mathematics and chemistry for a year.

Tutoring Approach

Personally, I prefer to adopt a student-centered approach tailored to each child’s individual needs and learning style. For math, I would start by assessing their current understanding and building a strong foundation in basic concepts such as algebraic expressions, geometry and statistics before gradually introducing more complex topics. I would use interactive tools, real-life examples, and problem-solving exercises to make abstract concepts more tangible and engaging. In chemistry, I would focus on making the subject approachable by using visual aids, past papers and interactive models to illustrate chemical principles. Both subjects would be taught with an emphasis on critical thinking and developing problem-solving skills, while fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment to boost confidence and enthusiasm.
