I am 32 years old and currently doing an Msc in Applied Psychology in Edinburgh. Previously I attended The University of Cambridge where I studied Human Social and Political Science (2:1), I did my A Levels at Collingham College where I attained 100% in 7/12 of my papers and The Humanities Award from The Council for Independent Education (CIFE) presented in The House of Lords. Since my undergraduate degree I have worked for several mental health charities including Lambeth and Southwark Mind, Raw Material Music, and Secours Catholique.

Tutoring Experience

I have six years of experience working as a tutor in Politics, History, English, Verbal/Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Oxbridge application preparation. I have also worked for education consultancy UniAdmissions.

Tutoring Approach

Each lesson will be tailored to the individual student's needs, however, there are a few principles I try to keep consistent. Firstly, I try to establish a safe and supportive atmosphere within lessons, I find once my students feel comfortable their ability to learn increases dramatically. Secondly, I try to focus on honing essay writing. A lot of politics study is writing essays, however, it can be difficult to know exactly how to go about this. I work with students on perfecting their essay styles so they can feel more confident in expressing their ideas. Thirdly, I like to include a debating element in each lesson, often towards the end. I find this has a twofold use; it allows students to examine new ideas in an unpressured environment and it helps them see both sides of an issue more thoroughly.
