Hailing from Malaysia, from a middle income family, furthering my studies to the UK was never even a thought. However, with help and guidance from the best teachers I can ever ask for, along with the support and love of my family, I managed to obtain amazing results. Along with a decent CV of club leaders and Tenpin Bowling at nationals for 6 years, I managed to secure a full scholarship to study Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London!
After completing my A-levels, my high school hired me as a part-time tutor at my high school to help guide a few groups of students in the weaker classes. They were already hardworking students, but because of weaker basics and inefficient studying methods, they weren't able to bring out their full potential. I guided them with more effective study skills, and became friends with them to know them on a personal level, and tailor their learning to their interests! A few of my tutees eventually went on to achieve amazing results in their exams, and one particular tutee, Delph, achieved an astounding straight A*s! I still keep in contact with my tutees till this day and Delph eventually secured a full scholarship from the government to further her studies in medicine, completely paid for!
Tailoring the learning experience to students and becoming friends with them to learn more about their personality and interests is what I believe to be the most effective!
