Hi! I am a science teacher with 24 years experience specialising in WJEC/ EDUQAS (Welsh exam board) A level Biology, AS level Physics and GCSE science subjects (physics, chemistry and biology). I offer online tutoring with a free first lesson to ensure that you are happy with my teaching style. I can also offer a face to face meeting if you live in North East Wales.

Tutoring Experience

I've taught science for over 25 years and currently work in a successful secondary school in Denbighshire. I also work for an exam board.
I specialise in GCSE science and A level Biology and am experienced in tutoring at A level, GSCE and have recently started to teach AS level Physics.
I have an honours degree in biomedical science and spent three years working as a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer before I became a teacher.

Tutoring Approach

I'm a mother of two teenagers and so I understand the need to build up confidence in a learner by being patient and encouraging. I try to use my enthusiasm, humour and imagination to make the process of learning a bit more fun and a little less painful!

I also use a flexible approach to learning to suit the student's needs. This could include: going through previously taught work; teaching new topics; using different ways to learn; practice at different types of exam paper questions; looking at exam technique and revision planning.

Since the first lockdown in March 2020 I have switched to online teaching and have been pleasantly surprised at well it works. In fact, I much prefer it! I can teach live using a whiteboard and show exam questions etc. The lesson can be recorded and the materials can be saved for the student's future use. It has allowed me to be much more flexible as resources are to hand, times can be extended or changed more easily and it doesn't have a detrimental effect of the relationship between the students and myself. They even get to see my cats who love to make an appearance.
