I am a passionate and experienced English teacher. I am 29 years old and my biggest passions are poetry and Shakespeare. I am an examiner for AQA and have marked both Language and Literature papers. I absolutely love to read and think that the understanding of language and rhetoric is an essential life skill. After graduating from University of London with a first class degree in theatre and literature, I worked as an actress with the Royal Shakespeare Company for several years, which gives me a unique insight into teaching my students. I decided to train to teach at the start of the Covid pandemic and haven't looked back since! I have a huge passion for instilling the joy I get from the study of English into my students.
I qualified as a secondary school English teacher in 2021 with a distinction in all areas and have since worked at King's Leadership Academy in Warrington as an English teacher and head of the public speaking curriculum. King's Leadership Academy is in the top 2% of the country for GCSE results, and I have a fantastic track record of getting my students the grade 8 and 9s they are capable of achieving.
My knowledge of pedagogy is something I am extremely proud of, and my approach to teaching completely depends on the student and what works for them. Inspiring genuine passion and joy for literature and language and solid exam technique is at the centre of my teaching.
