Mia

Hi, my name is Mia! I'm a Psychology graduate, accomplishing a first class degree at Lancaster University. I've been tutoring for five years, helping students from KS2, KS3, GCSE and A level to achieve their goals. I currently work in a Primary School in KS2.

I have excellent knowledge of the curriculum, and with GCSE and A-level students I use the specification to guide my lessons. Exam questions I will give you (at GCSE and A level) are from your exam board so you can familiarise yourself with the type of questions you will receive. My sessions are not only focused on bridging the gaps in your knowledge, but also ensuring that you feel confident and understand the information in order to succeed in your educational journey.

Tutoring Experience

I have excellent knowledge of the GCSE and A-level curriculum and support KS2 students everyday with their SATs prep. Exam questions I will give (at SATs, GCSE and A level) are from previous exam papers so students can familiarise themselves with the type of questions they will receive. My sessions are not only focused on bridging the gaps in knowledge, but also ensuring that students feel confident and understand the information in order to succeed in their educational journey.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching style tends to be very discussion based and I like to give examples throughout my lessons as this will really help to facilitate your understanding. However, I appreciate that everyone learns differently and for each student I adapt my lessons based on their learning styles. The first five minutes of my lesson will either begin with a discussion about what you would like to cover the following week or some refresher questions on the previous week's topic. Then in a typical lesson, we break down a topic together. After recapping the content, we spend the last portion of the lesson completing exam questions or worksheets until you feel confident to try a few questions by yourself.
