I have taught A level Psychology for 30 years at a local sixth form college in Brighton and Hove. I am presently Head of Department for Psychology (for over 20 years) specialising in the delivery of all aspects of the OCR specification. I only tutor students who are undertaking the OCR specification. Tutoring sessions can take place face to face or online. In my role of Head of Psychology, I have appreciated the benefits that one to one tutoring bring in accelerating knowledge and understanding of an A Level subject such as Psychology. The key benefit being that tutees are more likely to achieve an A Level grade in Psychology that reflects their true ability in the subject which hopefully takes the student one step closer to their overall objective of achieving the entry requirements of their chosen university.
As an experienced A Level teacher of Psychology specialising in the OCR specification, I have worked with students of all abilities on a successful one to one basis achieving outstanding outcomes. My confidence with all aspects of the OCR A Level specification has meant that tutoring sessions can be personalised to the particular needs of tutees.
Tutoring takes place either face to face or online. The focus of tutor sessions is to meet the individual needs of each student. For example, one tutor session may focus on gaps or weaknesses in knowledge and understanding. Another session may focus on examination technique using model exemplars. A third session may analyse examination papers completed by tutees for homework to identify areas for improvement that will ultimately improve their final public examination grade.
