Currently, I study Medical Engineering at the University of York. My hobbies consist of cooking and creating music, although I get the most enjoyment from creating music.
I helped tutor some of my peers and enjoyed doing so, hence I would like to try becoming a tutor.
I'll ask them to answer a double sided sheet of A4 with questions I will have created relating to the subject of which they would like for me to teach them. Then, I will mark them. From this I can assess their strengths and weaknesses and we will discuss each misconception they had when they answered a question wrong. After this, I will create a plan depending on how frequently they would like for me to be in contact with them per week. The plan will consist of three principles each session: Basics (where I explain the basic principles), Intermediate (example question walkthrough), Advanced (they go through two questions, similar to the walkthrough, and 'teach' me). When the session is done, I'll leave them with some homework (relating to the work reviewed in the session) that I'll tell them to not do straight after the session. If they come back with perfect/nearly perfect scores then we'll talk briefly about it and move on into the next session. If they come back with average or low scores I will tell them to walk me through a question (of my choosing) that focuses on basics in a very simple way, then I will correct them and talk them through it. If they understand it then I will choose a slightly more challenging question and ask them to do the same. Then I will set them questions to do like last time and repeat this process unless they have the desirable marks. I will ask them to send their sheet of answers to me, before/on the deadline, and after we've covered all topics they've struggled on, I'll ask them to complete a past paper that I will mark. If this process doesn't work I'll either try to think of a new strategy or I will refuse to tutor them further.
