Drama Tutoring in Chichester

Mike teaches Acting, Voice and Speech, Interpreting Text, Speaking Shakespeare, Developing Character and can also coach for auditions and work with you on speeches.

Mike trained as an actor, is a qualified performing arts lecturer and leads theatre and acting workshops. He writes poems, plays, articles for blogs and websites and is currently working on a new poetry collection and a writing a series of monologues.

Tutoring Experience

As an actor, Mike has performed at The Royal Court Theatre Upstairs as Kurt in Fireface (directed by Dominic Cooke) at the National Theratre Studio on a workshop production with Mark Ravenhill and worked with director Rupert Goold performing as Eric in Privates on Parade at The New Vic Theatre and as Gus in Arcadia at The Northampton Royal Theatre and Salisbury Theatre.

As a workshop leader he has designed and delivered sessions for Sixth Form Colleges and Colleges of Further Education for A-Level Drama and Theatre Studies, BTEC and NVQ Performing Arts courses.

Mike has led workshops for The Nuffield Theatre in Southampton, for businesses and for local authorities and is currently working with Chichester Festival Theatre as a freelance practitioner in the Learning, Education and Participation (LEAP) team.

Tutoring Approach

My acting classes are designed to teach you a craft. Therefore, we will spend time developing your vocal and physical skill with a routine of breath work, warm ups, speech exercises, body work alongside text study that will help you to inhabit a role. You will develop routines and habits that support your work and free your voice as well as learning a range of approaches to text and character.
