I'm a 3rd year MEng Aeronautical Engineering student, studying at City University of London. From my tutoring experience, I have developed and gained the skills necessary to make a study session fun and helpful.
I have around 1 year experience in tutoring students in mathematics, with experience in working with students of varying abilities.
Throughout my experience as a mathematics tutor, my responsibilities have been to:
• Provide essential knowledge to students in a calm and orderly manner, mapping onto the relevant curriculum.
• Ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and understandable way, tailored in line with specific student capabilities.
• Encourage positive attitude in the class room so that the students’ potential can be maximised and achieved.
Before starting, I want to know the ability of the student so that I can adapt my teaching approach. Also, this would give me an indication as to which topics and learning materials to focus on. Also, once the majority of subject content has been covered, we would focus on assessments. In this phase, I would be giving regular assessment feedback, noting down the topics which need to be studied further, in order to solidify the students understanding of topics coming up in exams.
