I have an excellent academic background, scoring straight 9s at GCSE and three A*s at A Level, a high 1st in first year at Cambridge, and a 71 average in second year. I have been highly commended for multiple Oxford and Cambridge essay prizes, and hold two academic scholarships at Newnham College Cambridge. I am an organised, creative and enthusiastic person, brining my energy and commitment to my tutoring. I am kind, always encouraging the student to be their individual self to create a safe learning environment.
I have over a year’s tutoring experience, tutoring students ranging in age from 6-18 years old, and with a range of English speaking ability. I tutor predominately in English Literature and Language, but also personal statement and School/University admissions. As a current student I have a keen understanding of the revised exam specifications and admissions processes, informed by my own recent experience. I have also written papers for tutoring companies. Before becoming a tutor I completed work experience teaching students with Cambridge University’s Faculty of Education during the Pandemic, to help improve their access to education during lockdown. This involved planning and leading virtual sessions, and providing detailed feedback to students.
I approach tutoring with enthusiasm and creativity to foster collegiality and engagement. I am deeply committed to helping my students achieve at their fullest potential, willing to give extra lessons to those struggling tailoring lessons to the individual students to offer a bespoke service. In group sessions I employ break-out groups to ensure involvement from all group members. I am organised and proactive with lesson planning and aim to maximise efficiency within sessions.
