Muhammad

Hello, my name is Muhammad and I am 1st year medical student at the University of Manchester. I achieved 3A* in A Level AQA biology, chemistry and maths well as an A* in my EPQ on robotic surgery at Greenhead College. For my GCSEs I achieved nine 9s, one 8 and one 7 at The Crossley Heath School. I have been tutoring for numerous years and have enjoyed seeing students understand new concepts and build their confidence.

Tutoring Experience

I’ve been tutoring for 4 years at Satchel academy where I taught the 11 plus which is an entrance exam for grammar schools. During this time I also tutored children from years 1 to 11 so have plenty of experience teaching primary and secondary school students. During college, I also mentored a year 12 student and brought their grades up from an E to an A in AQA A level maths within a few months and have also given advice for their application for medicine. I have also volunteered in multiple mock medicine interviews as an interviewer so I have experience in teaching how to answer interview style questions.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching style is centred around the student. I want to get to know their learning style and help them to identify their weaknesses and then we can work on them together. This is because I know students are busy with their personal lives and I want to make sure that our lessons are efficient so that students can make the most benefit from my time. Some different ways I can teach is by using PowerPoints to give an overview of the lesson if a student is unfamiliar with a concept. I also have a wide range of resources from Greenhead College and have multiple textbooks that I can share with students. I can work on exam questions that the student is struggling on and provide tips to answer similar questions correctly as well as giving tips on exam techniques. I will try to have a greater focus on questions so that I can ensure the student has understood the content and is able to apply their knowledge.
