I'm a qualified Science Teacher and deputy in department, specialising in chemistry. I am to also an Exam Officer and have moderated GCSE and A-level papers. I'm a qualified Pharmacist too with a master’s degree from King's College London. I switched careers due to my enthusiasm for teaching.
I have 8 years of teaching experience ranging from KS3 Science all the way to A-level. Several of my students have moved onto to study courses such as medicine, mechanical engineering etc. which I am very proud of. I have also moderated exam papers for Pearsons (EdExcel) and AQA. Becoming an examiner gave me great insight on specifications and mark schemes, enabling me to share my expertise with my department and my students.
I believe that lessons should engage the students from start to finish and allow them to explore new scientific ideas, concepts, and knowledge. Additionally, there should be elements of investigatory and enquiry-based science. My aim in lesson is to stimulate, motivate, and test the learning of students. I have varied approach lessons, which ensures students of all abilities grasp the lesson objectives clearly and confidently, so that by the end of the lesson they will feel that they have achieved the set tasks whilst enjoying the challenging aspects too. I like supporting my students with retrieval practices and self-quizzing to help them retain ideas and knowledge. I also like to carry out assessments with my students and share my familiarity and expertise on exam papers, to help them improve their results.
