I have been teaching for 15 years, 3 in London, 6 in Cambridge, 3 in China and 3 in Ecuador, as well as private tutoring lessons for 14 years. I really enjoy teaching students on a one to one basis or in small classes, getting to know their learning styles and helping them improve their confidence in either biology, chemistry or physics.

Tutoring Experience

3 years in London teaching biology, chemistry and physics at KS3 and KS4. I also taught A Level Biology and BTEC science levels 2 and 3.
3 years teaching in China, including 3 years of iGCSE Biology, 1 year iGCSE Physics, 2 years A Level Biology and 1 year A Level chemistry.
6 Years teaching iGCSE and A Level Biology in Cambridge.
3 years teaching iGCSE Biology and IB Biology and ESS in Ecuador.
I have also been tutoring privately for 14 years all three sciences and English to children aged 8-19 and one Mature university student.
Previous tutoring assignments have seen one student improve from an E grade to an A in Additional Science, and any others improve from a C/B to A/A*.
I have 15 years experience of teaching students who's first language is not English, three of those being in China, and 3 in Ecuador. Last year my GCSE Biology class all achieved B-A*. I also have 100% pass rate at A Level.
In addition, I am an examiner for CIE iGCSE Biology, and have been for 9 years. I am also an examiner for OCR A level Biology, which I have done for 8 years. Finally, I have two years experience of examining for the IB.

Tutoring Approach

I am very relaxed and like to get to know the students and the areas they are struggling. I can build a good rapport with the students so they feel relaxed in the lessons. I believe this helps build confidence in the students as they feel more free to make mistakes, ask questions and ultimately improve their confidence and understanding in the subject. I adapt my lessons to their learning styles, and focus a lot on exam technique to help them achieve the highest grades possible.
