My name is Nas and I have been a qualified teacher for 5 years. I have an honours degree in English Language and a passion for teaching and helping others. I am easy going, patient and have effective communication skills.
I have a proven track record of achieving excellent outcomes through my commitment to providing students with rigorous academic teaching, personalised intervention, and aspirational encouragement. With expertise in teaching in a sixth form and high school, I've consistently achieved success in preparing students for these exams.
My proficiency extends to the AQA specifications for English Language GCSE & A Level, where I have marked for the exam board for the past 3 years. Additionally, I bring 5 years of experience teaching Eduqas A Level Media Studies. I have exclusive access to exam board materials which has proven to beneficial for my students.
Having tutored for approximately 4 years, I've successfully assisted students across various subjects, including GCSE English Language and A Level Media Studies. My experience spans KS2, KS3, KS4, and KS5.
I take immense pride in preparing over 100 students for 11+ and GCSE exams, witnessing their achievements with great satisfaction. Each student receives a personalised learning plan, emphasising not only academic growth but also the enhancement of self-esteem and confidence through positive and constructive feedback.
Many of my students that I have prepared for Entrance Exams have received scholarships, through my application assistance, public speaking, and interview skills.
As a tutor, I have successfully prepared students for Common Entrance exams in English, Verbal, and Non-Verbal reasoning, catering to both GL and CEM formats. My focus is on ensuring the success and well-rounded development of every child I work with.
I have also aided students in practicing their analysis skills, subject terminology and essay style responses.
I begin by gathering information from parents as well as students, often engaging in discussions to pinpoint specific areas where their child needs focused attention. To gain a comprehensive understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, I assess the students, strategically identifying the areas that require concentrated efforts.
My teaching approach employs a diverse range of resources, including visuals, demonstrations, and worksheets, to tailor to and accommodate various learning styles.
My primary objective is to ensure my students not only excel in their exams but also make continuous progress while building confidence. We look at past paper mark schemes and sample answers, which offers valuable insights into the expectations of assessors.
I am dedicated to crafting a successful learning journey for each child, emphasising the development of their skills, the nurturing of self-esteem, and the fostering of motivation. With younger students, I leverage their interests, such as favourite characters or films, to create resources and lesson plans that keep them engaged and motivated throughout the learning process. I aim to challenge students and propel them further in their learning journey.
As an advocate of life-long learning, my enthusiasm for English is palpable in the way I inspire students to shape their speech and express their thoughts. I cultivate an environment that encourages curiosity, questioning, and thoughtful discussions on various topics, themes, and issues.
My objective is to elevate student grades through various methods, including but not limited to:
• low-stakes testing
• retrieval and revision homework
• the development of subject knowledge.
• strategies to achieve top grades (A and A*)
• incorporate explicit vocabulary teaching
• enhance language proficiency.
• develop tier 2 vocabulary
• refine reading skills.
