I'm a Doctor specialising in Obstetrics and gynaecology. I have been a private tutor for over 15 years. I have additional degrees in Biochemistry and Biomedicine (BSc & MSc).I studied Medicine at St Georges Hospital London. I love both science and the arts and have A'levels and GCSE's in both areas. At school I struggled with exams, but I had an excellent set of teachers who worked on both my confidence and my approach, leaving me with a perfect skill set to pass on to someone else. I believe I am a calm person who understands that its human to make mistakes, but also that mistakes are the key to improvement and understanding. After all some of the greatest scientific discoveries came out of a mistake.

Tutoring Experience

On finishing my first degree I worked as a teaching assistant for children with behavioural difficulties. This was challanging but extremely rewarding. These students ranged in age from 11 to 16, I was there to help prep them for GCSE or GCE level qualifications. My role as part of a psychiatric nursing team brought me into contact with adult learners working toward science A'levels as part of their occupational therapy treatment. On a more mainstream level I have taught in both schools and summer camps tutoring and mentoring children applying for Cambridge/Oxford up to A'level standard in English, Maths and Science. I have been tutoring for over 14 years.

Tutoring Approach

Every person has their own way of learning, through observation I tailor my tutoring method to each individual. Though my work ethic is a strong one, I allow mistakes to be made. I experienced too many tutors in my school years who chastised students for their mistakes, my ethos allows mistakes as they prove that full understanding has not been attained, and therefore further work needs to be done. I am a kind person who doesn't anger easily and I believe this is reflected in the way I teach.

I teach Practical Maths and Science, as I believe that seeing the sums and relating them to everyday sitations makes maths and science more accessable and understandable. I have taught all boards including WJEC, OCR, EDEXCEL, IGCSE, NUFFIELD and AQA. My teaching experience has allowed me to build a body of knowledge on how to pass all the major exams. The style of the exam questions and how to answer them is individual to each board. To obtain the maximum marks often a student needs explanation and help with exam technique, this is something that I now have a good deal of experience in.

I coach students through the medicine application system, including help with personal statements and interview. I also have a thorough understanding of GAMSAT, BMAT and UKCAT.

I only teach at home at the weekends and therefore Online only week days. Please be aware that as a full time doctor there may be weeks when I am on shift and cannot teach, or may have to do online.
