Maths Tuition in Maidstone

Hi there! My name's Nathan. I grew up in the West Midlands, moving down to Kent for university in 2020, to study Music Performance. I am a local performer, and regularly gig at venues around my town of Maidstone. Give me a message/call and I'd love to have a chat!

Tutoring Experience

I have over 4 years experience as a tutor/school teacher. I have tutored Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry up to year 13, and have helped students go from a D grade to a B grade, and A grade to an A* grade, a 5 to a 7 at GCSE, and more. This year, I have began working as a full time teacher in a Maidstone Grammar School, and have experience working in a lower attaining comprehensive school. I have taught, catered for, and improved the attainment of, a wide range of abilities.

Tutoring Approach

Every lesson sequence is personalised to the student's needs. This is both based of a student's self-reported confidence in a particular topic or area, and my own assessment of their abilities and knowledge-gaps. Every activity will inform my decision as for what will be focused on next. This results in the most efficient improvement in knowledge, confidence, and grade, as possible.

Depending on the topic content, and whether it is new information or revision for the student, they will undergo an average of 20-25 minutes of independent work per lesson. This is vital in information retention. The rest of the lesson will be guided model answers to questions, and potentially a mini-quiz to summarise the student's learning during the lesson.

As exam season approaches, lots of past paper questions, and full past papers will be spoken through, and set as homework, which will then be used to give feedback to the student as to what to focus on. They will be taught how the mark scheme looks for each type of question so they will be comfortable knowing what will achieve marks during the all-important exam.
