I am a dedicated and passionate English teacher with experience in fostering critical thinking and language analysis skills. Skilled in adaptive teaching strategies and providing targeted support to students with diverse needs. Committed to creating a positive and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to grow.
I have two years of teaching experience working with secondary students aged 11 to 16, delivering both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 English. I currently work at a top-rated, Ofsted-rated Outstanding school known for achieving consistently high GCSE results. In this role, I have taught a range of ability groups, including bottom-set Year 11 classes, where I developed a keen understanding of how to support students working toward essential GCSE qualifications.
My teaching experience includes delivering key GCSE texts such as An Inspector Calls, Macbeth, and A Christmas Carol, with a focus on developing students’ understanding of 19th-century fiction, dramatic conventions, and Shakespearean tragedy. I guide students to explore themes such as social responsibility, power, ambition, and morality, while helping them build critical analytical skills including inference, evaluation, and essay writing.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have two years of tutoring experience, providing one-to-one and small group sessions with a strong emphasis on exam technique, targeted intervention, and confidence-building for GCSE success.
My teaching style is adaptive, student-centered, and rooted in the belief that all learners can achieve with the right support and challenge. I strive to create a learning environment that is both structured and inspiring—where students feel safe to express ideas, take intellectual risks, and grow as independent thinkers. I make effective use of scaffolding and questioning to guide students through complex texts and concepts, and I tailor my approach based on individual learning needs. Whether through engaging discussion, creative tasks, or exam-focused practice, I aim to balance academic rigour with a genuine passion for literature and language, helping students develop both their critical thinking and their confidence in written and verbal expression.
