I offer private tuition in mathematics at all levels, including GCSE, IB and A-level Maths, as well as preparation for 11+ or 13+ entrance and scholarship examinations (verbal and non-verbal reasoning, maths and English).

My qualifications include a first-class honours BSc degree, a Masters MSc degree with distinction and a PhD in Mathematics. My studies were completed here in the UK at leading universities including Imperial College and the University of London.

I am based in South West London and travel to your home for no extra charge. For my online students I use both a high-definition document camera and webcam.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring local students of different abilities and backgrounds for several years and tailor my teaching style to the individual needs of each student. I am familiar with all exam boards (Edexcel, OCR, AQA, MEI, CIE, IB, ISEB) and have a wide range of resources including exam papers to supplement lessons.

Having already helped many students secure places at top public schools, I am well placed to support candidates as they prepare for Common Entrance and Common Academic Scholarship exams (CASE). I also offer specialised support to candidates considering scholarship entry and who are, in particular, sitting the Westminster Challenge, Winchester's Election exam, the King's Scholarship at Eton or Harrow's Academic Scholarship.

I make every effort to ensure my students achieve the very best result possible, often exceeding their own goals and expectations. I take pride in a successful record of being able to raise performance levels over a very short period of time, with the overwhelming majority of my students achieving the highest possible grades.

I also have recent experience lecturing and mentoring at university and have supported students with special needs and disabilities. While most of my students are 11+ candidates or working towards GCSE/IGCSE, A-level and International Baccalaureate qualifications, I have worked alongside Oxbridge admission tutors and am happy to prepare candidates for Oxford's undergraduate Maths Admissions Test (MAT) and Cambridge's Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP) as well as offer more general guidance to university applicants.

Tutoring Approach

During my lessons I make a point of introducing new concepts and theorems with absolute clarity by building on elementary principles in a simple way and without assuming any background knowledge. This is usually followed by working on instructive reinforcement exercises to enhance understanding and build confidence. Most importantly, I like my lessons to be fun!

I keep an open channel of communication outside of lessons in order to offer support and answer any follow-up questions my students may have. Typically, I set homework at the end of each lesson and discuss marked homework at the start of the next class.

I am completely flexible when it comes to my lessons, so am happy to adjust my teaching to your exact needs. Please contact me to discuss your own requirements.
