I am an experienced teacher, having taught for the last 23 years in both state and private secondary schools. My most recent work has been in a sixth form college. I am now retired.
I have 23 years experience of teaching secondary science and A level biology. I achieved ALPS grade 2 2018-19.with my A level biology classes. My most recent post was at a Sixth Form College in Salford where I taught A-level biology and BTEC science. I also taught adults on the Open Awards Access to Higher Education course. In addition I have worked for AQA as a Practical Science Advisor, visiting schools and collages.
I use a variety of teaching techniques to encourage active learning. This included missing word exercises, card sorts, crosswords etc to encourage the learning of key vocabulary. I use past paper questions, mark schemes and examiners reports to help students understand what examiners require and how they can improve their grades.
