I am a recently graduated MSc Economics student from Lancaster University where I achieved a grade of Distinction at the end of 2022. During my A levels I had a maths tutor who played a pivotal role in helping me to achieve my academic goals. Since then I have been passionate about teaching and helping others to understand concepts & topics, whether it be family & friends, fellow students or through tutoring. I am passionate about helping others learn and would be thrilled if I could play a role in helping others achieve their goals. In my spare time I am interested in sports, particularly football, running and mixed martial arts (mma). My other hobbies include aquariums and gardening.
I have been tutoring part time for the past three years. This included younger family members & cousins who were going through GCSE's/A-levels (particularly maths/ economics), also whilst at university I tutored younger 1st/2nd year students to help them get through exams & assessments.
I like to take a topic, or even a smaller sub-section of a topic and break down the intuition behind the ideas. Especially in economics, visuals such as graphs and charts are pivotal for students to understand, therefore breaking down a question to its foundations and building up the intuition step by step is my favourite approach to learning. I then like to ask the student to relay what they understand of the 'story' to gauge their understanding, this allows me to identify any weaknesses which can then be worked on.
