Hello, my name is Olivia and I am a teacher of English and Head of Media Studies.
I am a graduate of Cambridge University and have a Master's degree in English Literature from Cardiff University. A passion for life-long learning and the pursuit of personal academic goals are qualities I look to nurture in all of my students.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 13 years experience teaching all ability levels at KS3, 4 and 5 English, as well as Media Studies at KS4 and KS5.

I have taught a very broad range of texts, including the most popular A-level and GCSE English Literature texts including King Lear, Doctor Faustus, Jane Eyre, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, An Inspector Calls, Heroes, Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird and the poetry of Philip Larkin, Carol Ann Duffy and Owen Shears

I am a previous Head of Sixth form and specialise in delivering tailored A-level tutoring sessions to those aiming for the highest grades. I also offer sessions to English Literature undergraduates wishing to improve their essay writing skills.

I am experienced in preparing students for Oxbridge interviews and in helping students write successful personal statements for university applications; I offer sessions preparing students for university entrance interviews and have a high success rate in my tutees gaining places.

Tutoring Approach

I make sessions applicable to specific learning and exam targets, whilst also ensuring that they are stimulating and engaging.

My years of classroom and pastoral experience as a head of year enable me to be a very flexible teacher - I tailor my sessions to the abilities and interests of each individual pupil, whilst maintaining high expectations.
