Private Maths and Chemistry Tuition in Salford

After completing an MChem at the University of Southampton and an MPhil at the University of Machester, I have entered a PhD program in biochemistry at the University of Liverpool. I am an easy-going and approachable person with a wide range of interests and hobbies aside from my academic studies. I am extremely passionate about mathematics and the sciences and although I studied a pure chemistry degree, I continued to further my knowledge of mathematics through optional modules.

Tutoring Experience

Over the years I have acquired varied teaching experience, both formal and informal. So far, I have taught several A-level and GCSE students with encouraging results, and taught chemistry to a younger homeschooled students through the use of experiments and demonstrations. Along with this, I have taught friends and younger family members in a more informal setting and helped them to come to grips with both basic and complex concepts across different areas of the sciences, helping them achieve higher overall marks.

Tutoring Approach

I am a firm believer of "practice makes perfect". As such, the crux of my lessons will be based on practice and problems. The aim of the problems will be for the student to find a context for the material we cover, and so they understand what kind of questions they may be asked in future tests and exams. My questions will be primarily taken from the book and past exams, and will be organised in a way that complements the lesson; a quick recap of the previous lesson, then simple problems to test the students understanding of specific aspects of the current lesson, and more challenging exam-style questions to challenge the student's understanding. I also aim to have "cheat sheets" outlining what the student will need to know for the revision guide and what types of questions may be asked.
