I am a highly experienced teacher and subject evangelist with a track record going back to 1981. I also have considerable experience at supporting students into universities and vocational careers, as well as providing careers guidance support, even to the children of my former students. I hold a current enhanced CRB clearance.

Tutoring Experience

I have been head of a large sixth form in central London where I taught GCSE and A level groups plus university entrance with a great track record of getting better results than predicted. My specialisms are:

• History and politics
• Law -- A level plus undergraduate support
• Careers Guidance -- I've been supporting students since 1981, have published articles on careers guidance and even given evidence to government enquiries and Select Committees

I also specialise in working with students to strengthen their examination technique to maximise performance on the day and to eliminate the stress/panic levels before exams

Tutoring Approach

My students become independent and motivated learners, I 'merely' support them through the transition from spoon fed to independence! It's all about maximising performance in the exam itself and this requires a high degree of self management on the part of a young person. Having also worked as both a journalist before entering teaching, and having written dozens of successful bids for school-based projects, I also bring that experience into my teaching.
