I am a fully qualified mathematics teacher and GCSE/IGCSE examiner. I live just outside Lancaster with my wife and 3 children. I have a first class honours degree and secondary PGCE in Mathematics and started my working career in the electronics industry before entering the teaching profession. I am currently tutoring A Level students studying towards Edexcel, AQA and OCR exams. I have a number of international students working on IGCSE and GCSE students of all standards as well as KS3 learners. I currently have some spaces following this years GCSE and Alevel examinations but they quickly fill up after school. I am available Monday to Thursday during the day if that suits you better.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked full time in a very successful Lancashire secondary school for 21 years where I taught all abilities from year 7 to year 13. At A level I specialised in pure mathematics and Statistics and regularly taught mechanics to Oxbridge candidates undertaking Further Mathematics and STEP papers. I tutor students undertaking all major examination boards in England and Scotland at GCSE and Advanced Level.
My teaching responsibilities included running a department of 11 Mathematics teachers where I was also responsible for implementing curriculum developments throughout Key Stage 4 and 5. I specialised in working with students with specific learning needs.
I have been a GCSE and IGCSE examiner for over 20 years working for a number of boards assessing students in UK and throughout SE Asia.

Tutoring Approach

I am available throughout the day which works particularly well for international students and adult learners. I offer online tuition or in person tuition on a one to one basis and have tutored students from primary to first year degree standard. Most of my students have continued their education at university and have all become much more confident learners and have said how much their other subjects have gained from their improvement in Mathematics. My students have benefitted from a wide variety of teaching resources and I feel my experience enables me to target the lessons to get the best results for my students. I believe in a relaxed atmosphere which reduces anxiety and lets the students demonstrate their true ability but still challenges them. I have tutored many students with specific learning difficulties in particular anxiety, autism and dyscalculia.
