Private Physics Tutor in Crewe

I am based near Crewe in Cheshire and I have taught Physics at a variety of levels for over 36 years. I have two grown-up children so hopefully I have a pretty good idea of what it is you're going through when it comes to school/college! I am recently retired so have plenty of available times in the day or evenings.

Tutoring Experience

Until very recently I was Head of Physics at a College in Cheshire, where I had been since 2006, teaching A Level Physics (AQA). I achieved excellent success rates with my classes and my teaching was highly regarded, obtaining good grades in lesson observations and from Ofsted. I have also taught Year 7 to 13 Science/Physics at a Comprehensive School, and prior to that I was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds for 17 years, where I taught a variety of Physics courses at all levels, and carried out research in Polymer Physics and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

Tutoring Approach

I recognise that from the student's point of view, having a personal tutor can initially be a somewhat daunting prospect! I have a lot of experience of 1:1 tutoring, both at College and also with First Tutors and I will do my best to put you at ease and make the sessions relaxing, enjoyable and rewarding. I prefer to travel to the learner's home for sessions. It is helpful if you are proactive in identifying the areas where you are struggling, and what it is you find difficult and don't understand - remember there is no such thing as a silly question! I understand that your main objective is to acquire the skills needed to be successful in examinations, and I will help you achieve that, but I will also explain things within the broader context of Physics and communicate the interest I have for the subject. You will find my approach particularly beneficial if you are an A level student hoping to study Physics at University.
