Online Maths and English Tuition

I am a university student at the University of Birmingham studying Computer Science and Engineering, and have plenty of experience with tutoring. I have experience working with GCSE and A-Level students and understand the common challenges they encounter. My goal is not only to help students achieve better grades but also to instill in them a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject. By focusing on both academic success and confidence-building, I aim to empower students to reach their full potential and approach maths with a positive mindset. Whether preparing for exams or improving overall skills, I am committed to supporting each student’s individual learning journey.

Tutoring Experience

I was a tutor for 1.5 years at an 11+ tuition centre, teaching Maths, English and Reasoning. I have also tutored Maths, English and Physics to GCSE students at my secondary school, to help them understand more challenging concepts and allow them to reach their full potential.

Tutoring Approach

My lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive, and tailored to the specific needs of each student. I believe that no two students learn the same way, so I adapt my teaching style to suit individual learning preferences. Whether a student needs to build confidence in the basics or tackle more advanced topics, I aim to make maths accessible and enjoyable.

Each lesson typically begins with a brief recap of previous material to ensure continuity and reinforce understanding. We then focus on the key objectives of the session, working through explanations and step-by-step examples of relevant topics. I use a combination of visual aids, diagrams, and real-life examples to make abstract concepts more relatable and easier to understand. After the explanation, we move on to practice questions, starting with simpler problems and progressing to more challenging, exam-style questions. This helps to build confidence and prepare students for the types of questions they will encounter in their exams.

I also dedicate time to reviewing past exam papers and discussing exam techniques, such as time management and how to approach complex, multi-step problems. Additionally, I encourage students to ask questions at any point during the lesson, fostering a supportive environment where they feel comfortable expressing any difficulties they face.
