I'm Rachael and I am a very experienced, enthusiastic French teacher. My passion for languages was developed throughout my education and experiences abroad. I am a GCSE French specialist and examiner. I am also TEFL trained and have twice lived and worked in France, teaching English to both primary and secondary aged students as well as running classes for adult learners.
In my free time, I enjoy running, yoga and playing badminton, being creative and travelling to new and exciting destinations!
I am a fully-qualified MFL teacher with 15 years of experience in the classroom and have been a private tutor for 14 years. I have tutored students from Year 2 to Year 11 and, as I am a GCSE examiner, I have a sound understanding of all GCSE exam boards including AQA, Edexcel and Cambridge IGCSE as well as of the Common Entrance exams. My student's have consistantly improved in their grades, their confidence and their enjoyment of the language.
Since qualifying, in addition to classroom teaching, I have been a Head of Department, I have worked as a Specialist Leader in Education and Intervention teacher and have provided exam intervention for a number of schools.
I adapt my approach to tutoring depending on the tutee and their style of learning. I know its essential to develop a high level of trust with my tutees which I do with patience and encouragement whilst building their self-confidence in the subject, which is often lacking but incredibly important in language learning. I understand the great need for a solid understanding of the language's grammar as a foundation to build on and have perfected my approach to teaching this difficult, and often unloved, aspect of language learning.
I endeavour to make my lessons fun, focused and interactive. A variety of teaching methods and revision techniques are used and introduced in order to fulfil potential, show progress and achieve the highest possible results.
My students make significant progress through my tuition as it effectively compliments their school based learning.
