I’m a 25-year-old Payroll Administrator / Account Manager with a degree in Creative and Professional Writing. I’m a friendly and patient individual. I have lots of work experience from working on sets to working in customer service, meaning that I have the ability to understand, empathise and communicate effectively with others. In my free time I love to read and write.
Before starting university, I volunteered as a Creative Writing mentor to children and young people. I had to communicate with children and young people to understand their various abilities and support their needs. I would help them to create ideas and develop them into characters and plotlines and assist them with their writing. Throughout my final year of university, I was an Academic Mentor. I had to use my initiative, knowledge and creativity to design and deliver mentoring sessions to first year university students. The sessions would cover material from the first year of my creativity course - from learning how to develop characters and plots to grammar, punctuation and spelling to essay writing.
I first like to begin with talking to the student and finding out their knowledge, what they’re currently studying and what they would like to work on. I then create a schedule and modules to organise each session. I also use PowerPoint presentations to visually aid my tutoring. It makes the information much easier for the student to take in and understand. It also helps to organise information.
