I am a passionate and experienced mathematics teacher, dedicated to helping students of all abilities unlock their full potential. With over 25 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings- from inner city to elite private institutions- I bring a wealth of knowledge and adaptability to my tutoring sessions. My mission is to not only help students excel academically but also to build their confidence and foster a genuine love for mathematics. I specialise exclusively in GCSE mathematics tutoring, ensuring focused and expert guidance for students preparing for these important exams.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a qualified mathematics teacher since 1997 and have taught in a wide range of schools, including inner city institutions, high-performance state schools, and private schools. I was one of the first Advanced Skills Teachers in mathematics and have also served as a Head of Department, leading teams and designing innovative teaching strategies. My international experience includes working in China, broadening my cultural understanding and teaching methods.

Throughout my career, I have successfully worked with students who struggle in mathematics as well as those aiming for top grades, always ensuring excellent outcomes. I have also written mathematics syllabi tailored to diverse learning styles, ensuring every student has a pathway to success. My extensive experiences ensure that GCSE students receive highly relevant and tailored support.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching philosophy centres on adapting to each student’s individual needs and learning style. Whether working one on Oneida pairs, or in small groups, I use AI driven software to create a personalised learning experience for every student - even within group sessions.

As a specialist in GCSE mathematics, I ensure students are thoroughly prepared for their exams by focusing on building confidence, mastering key concepts, and reinforcing their skills. For students in Hedge End, Southampton, I offer face-to-face sessions. Additionally, for online students I provide GDPR-compliant video recordings of sessions, allowing students to revisit lessons and reinforce their understanding. My goal is to make learning both accessible and effective, helping students gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
