Hi,
I am a Teacher of Maths/Physics with a BSc in Theoretical Physics (University of Leeds), as well as a PGCE in Secondary Maths Education (Middlesex University. I have two+ years of experience in education where I have taught all the way up to GCSEs and A levels. I have strong experience with AQA OCR and Edexcel. Since my time teaching, I have also worked in industry as a Lab Systems Engineer where I developed highly regulated/compliant software in Python, as well as worked as a Data Analyst for Marks & Spencers. As someone who has struggled with annoying teachers in schools who always tell you that "you've hit a brick-wall" as soon as you struggle with a topic, I believe that it is paramount to be able to empathise with a student in order to ensure they fully understand the subject matter being covered. I even managed to move from a C in AS Maths to an A in A2s and managed to join the university I wanted to. After graduating, teaching professionally and working in industry; I can safely say that there is no such thing as a brick wall - all it takes is some patience, time and smart practice to improve your grades and get to your dream school/university/job!
If this sounds like the type of help you're looking for, please do reach-out!
-PGCE in Secondary Mathematics (2022):
Completed at Middlesex University, with placements at:
Haydon School
Queensmead School
Delivered full lesson sequences across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including GCSE and A-level Maths as well as Physics. I am comfortable teaching programming as well (in Python, C#,C,C++), as I worked as a Lab Systems Engineer for 2 years where I specialised in applied physics software.
Teaching Assistant:
-Claremont High School Academy (2020-21)
Worked at Claremont High School Academy prior to my PGCE, supporting secondary students with differentiated needs across Maths and Physics and gaining early experience in lesson delivery and intervention support.
I take a diagnostic approach to tutoring, beginning by identifying any knowledge gaps or misconceptions the student may have. From there, I tailor lessons using a range of targeted resources, such as scaffolded worksheets, exam-style questions, and past paper materials aligned with the relevant exam board. My sessions are designed to build understanding iteratively, gradually increasing the complexity to strengthen both confidence and problem-solving ability. I aim to equip students not only with a solid grasp of the subject matter but also with the skills to apply their knowledge flexibly in unfamiliar contexts, which is an essential part of exam success. Above all, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity, resilience, and independent thinking.
