I am a fully qualified secondary school mathematics teacher, having completed my PGCE training with Kings College London. The most rewarding part of teaching and tutoring for me is boosting students confidence and enthusiasm for mathematics, enabling students to see their great potential.
I have 7 years experience of teaching, which incorporates tutoring work one to one, in groups, as well as classroom teaching in the secondary and primary school setting. As well as supporting students with their high school mathematics curriculum (reaching target GCSE grades, 11+ entrance) I have experience tutoring older learners for the functional mathematics exams, required for various vocational courses.
I am a great believer in the mastery approach for teaching mathematics. This approach enables a more thorough conceptual understanding of the key mathematical principles. Being guided by a deeper understanding of mathematics, rather than a knowledge based primarily upon rote learning, students develop greater confidence and ability to approach less familiar problems, .
