Rhiannon

Private Online English and Drama Tutor

I am an experienced and approachable tutor in English Language and Literature, who is committed to helping every student achieve their best. I have tutored at the primary and secondary level, working with tutees of all abilities through SAT and GCSE exam preparation. My goal is not only to work through material but to instil confidence in my tutees by encouraging their natural abilities, which are invariably better than they think, and demystifying the examination process in order to make sitting the paper on the day seem less intimidating.

Having recently earned my masters degree in Shakespeare Studies, which combined English and Theatre, I am very passionate about all things Shakespeare, and am committed to making his works accessible and understandable in an enjoyable way at all levels from primary to post-graduate. Whether you are studying Shakespeare at GCSE or A level, working on university coursework, or on monologues for auditions, I would absolutely love to tutor you!

Tutoring Approach

I understand that every tutee has a different learning style, and work to design individual exercises to fulfil curriculum requirements while also fitting their interests and needs. I work from marking schemes and curriculum resources to teach tutees how effectively to pass exams, but I am also committed to inspiring an interest in my subjects, and an individual “way in” to texts to allow tutees to form their own opinions and apply them successfully. Though I encourage students to push themselves beyond their comfort zones, I ensure I create a safe environment where mistakes are learning opportunities. It is important to instil confidence in tutees’ abilities, and ensure they feel as positive as they can when walking into an examination, handing in coursework, or completing an audition.
