I am a 50 year old, experienced primary school teacher who thoroughly enjoys making the difference to the education of young children - I find one-to-one teaching particularly rewarding.
I have a wife and two children, and when I'm not working, I love being outdoors, either running, cycling, hiking or simply being in the garden.
I have been teaching KS2 children for 14 years: initially Year 3/4 children (3 years), followed by 7 years working in Year 5, with my last 4 years teaching Year 6 children and preparing them for their KS2 SATs tests.
I work at a school deemed by Ofsted to be 'Outstanding' and have consistently produced Year 6 results which reflect this standard. I have a deep understanding of the KS2 curriculum, particularly in Maths and English (writing, comprehension and punctuation and grammar).
Given that all children learn in different ways, my approach to tutoring is depends very much upon the child. However, I try to include practical opportunities or use media wherever possible.
