I am a recent graduate of Zoology MSci from the University of Exeter who is enthusiastic and passionate about scientific outreach, and enthusing students about biology and ecology. My degree equipped me with diverse skills, making me well-suited to the role of biology tutor.

Tutoring Experience

Throughout my bachelor's and my master’s degree, I specialized in animal biology and conservation biology, whilst maintaining a strong interest in genetics and microbiology. I studied modules such as wildlife disease, genetics, and microbes which could allow me to help students develop a strong understanding of biology broadly. I can also provide expert support on support on topics like ecology, conservation, and animal behaviour.

My invigilator role at Penryn College could provide insight into GCSE and A-Level exam procedures, enhancing my ability to support students through the exams. I also have experience working with students with learning disabilities, I can offer support to students and work to develop strategies for the exams.

Tutoring Approach

My first step would be discussing with the student what the issue is, whether there is a paticular area that isn't understood.

Then I would work to help the student fill any gaps in their knowledge, tailoring the content to them to make sure they have a firm knowledge basis before moving on.

Finally, I would work to tailor the answers to the requirements of the exam board, working through example questions with the student.
